Shooting RAW
I just dont understand why anyone with a DSLR would not shoot raw files on their camera. Compact flash cards are cheap. Harddrive space is cheap and the camera’s processor buffer the write procedures that you dont notice the change. Plus, this is what happens to jpgs over time

Postal
Today, after waiting for 15 minutes for two people to buy a single stamp each from the teller at the Post Office, I had a little discussion with Postal Employee Margerie.
“Why did you guys get rid of the postal machines? I mean, I just need one stamp and I’m forced to stand in line at the Post Office for half my morning every time I come in here because you cant just retrofit a candy machine with a roll of stamps.”
“Well, to be honest, i’m not entirely sure. What I do know is that we were going through some downsizing and they had to go.”
“Marge, can you really downsize machines for inefficiency?”
“Well, they weren’t tracked by the post office, but some other entity” (she used the word ’someone else’, but ‘entity’ makes her sound smarter).
“So, rather than seeing how much people used them, you decided to just get rid of them because they were honin in on your territory? That’s kinda counter intuitive in my opinion.”
At this point, the lady behind me, some mid-40’s black woman, piped in, “They were really useful! Really the only useful thing that you guys had going for you.”
“Yeah Marge!”
“I’m really sorry.”
“You dont sound like it!” said my newest black friend in the world.
In the end, i waited there for about 30 minutes for a $.42 cent stamp, but realized that the Post Office does one thing extremely well and efficiently. Every time I’m there, I end up making friends with everyone in line, not because they’re so cool or anything, but because we’re all forced to spend so much damn time in line and the only thing to do is make fun of this ridiculous organization to ease our anger. I always walk out of there with a smile on my face having learned a few good zingers at their expense.
It’s like every time
